Fancy dress parties are Hard Soap Hard Soap (1977)always a tricky one.
You've got to try and gauge the mood. Sometimes people will go all out; sometimes they'll make a token effort; and sometimes, if they're really mean, they'll trick you into thinking you have to dress up when you actually don't.
