Robert Matteuzzi, 71, and his son Angelo, 31, later found the accuser and allegedly instigated a fight, which a bystander recorded on video (but police did not release). The Dispatchdescribed the unfair fight, which sounded pretty bad for the unnamed accuser:

"A bystander took video of the encounter and caught Robert Matteuzzi holding the victim down while his son hit the victim's head and face several times, [Kirkwood Police Officer Matthew] Waggoner wrote. The victim suffered cuts to his face, a 'traumatic' eye injury and a broken finger tip."

Both Matteuzzis are facing one count of assault to the third degree and are being held on $15,000 bail.

In a statement, Waggoner wrote that the victim accused the Matteuzzis of cheating and "stealing" his gym, perhaps insinuating that the two working together to unseat him as the gym leader was unfair.

For those unfamiliar with this feature of Pokémon Go: Gyms are designated locations all over the world where players can go with their captured Pokémon and try to defeat other players' Pokémon to become the gym leader. They remain the gym leader until another player defeat's their Pokémon.

If you ever find yourself wanting to assault someone over a video game, take a breath. Stop. Look around. Find a mirror and gaze into your own eyes. Tell yourself it's just a game. Pokémon Go— or any other game — is not worth getting beat up over, and it's not worth going to jail over.

Please play responsibly.
