Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD is Swipe (2017)going on a big hiring spree with plans to hire 20,000 new workers in the country’s central city of Zhengzhou during the first quarter of this year, state broadcaster CGTN reported on Friday. The new hires will focus on research and development as well as manufacturing, as the company hopes to increase the output capacity at its Zhengzhou facility which produced approximately 545,000 vehicles last year, a 170% increase from the previous year. China’s EV giant has been operating its biggest production base in the capital city of central China’s Henan province since April, 2023, with around 60,000 workers. The firm ships vehicles from the plant to overseas markets such as Europe. [Reuters, CGTN, TechNode reporting]
